Use the Virginia limited power of attorney document to select an agent to handle certain financial actions or decisions as described by the principal. The form can be made to grant restricted access to your personal affairs such as collecting mail, handling a real estate transaction, or to be able to pay simple bills on the principal’s behalf. The form is not durable, meaning if the principal should become mentally incapable of making decisions on their own the form terminates.
In order to create, select an agent, fill out the form, and go to a notary public (found at every branch bank) or find two adult witnesses for the signature page. Once this is complete the document will be accepted at any public or private institution in Virginia.
